When Enterprise Baptist Church in Littleton, NC, needed a new bus for traveling and mission trips, Mr. Joseph Edwards, chairman of the transportation committee and associate Sunday School teacher, was assigned the task of finding the perfect vehicle.
The church decided they would like to replace their old 15-passenger van with a 15-passenger bus in order to gain more storage for luggage and to have more safety features. Edwards was referred to Carolina Thomas for help.
Carolina Thomas worked with Edwards to find the perfect 15-passenger bus for his church. Lance Hill, Commercial Sales Manager, worked closely with him to build a custom bus that was comfortable, safe, spacious, and easy to drive. “Working with Lance Hill of Carolina Thomas, we were able to custom build our bus to meet all of our desires,” Edwards said.
Partnering with Customers for Better Buses
When the church first began using the new bus, they realized the air conditioning vents were not adjustable. The vents faced straight forward and could not be adjusted side to side., leaving passengers warm and the driver cold. One day, when visiting Carolina Thomas for routine maintenance, Edwards saw a suggestion box, where he placed his desire for adjustable vents.
When Tom Schaaf, Carolina Thomas Vice President and General Manager, read the suggestion he immediately contacted the manufacturer of the air conditioner and requested custom vents for Enterprise Baptist Church’s bus. New vents came within a week, and as a result of Edwards’ suggestion, that manufacturer decided to change its future design plans to include adjustable vents.
Edwards and his church members have used their new bus for several trips to Raleigh as well as trips to Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. “Our church folks love to travel in our new bus,” says Edwards. “I highly recommend to anyone to build your own bus with Carolina Thomas.
