Body Shop Prepper (Greensboro, NC)
Position Summary
Carolina Thomas is seeking a Body Shop Prepper to support paint and collision repair operations in our Body Shop department. Under general supervision, this role focuses on preparing vehicles for paint and assisting with body shop repair processes, with opportunities to grow into more advanced repair work over time.
What You'll Do
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicles as needed for repair and paint preparation
- Sand, tape, and prep vehicles for paint work
- Communicate daily with the Body Shop Manager on job status and progress
- Coordinate with Body Shop leadership and internal teams (Parts, Service, etc.) to ensure jobs are completed on schedule
- Inspect finished vehicles with the Body Shop Manager to identify any quality imperfections
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area
- Participate in the company’s Continuous Improvement Project to help drive departmental efficiency
Growth Opportunity
- In time, this person performing this job may be trained in inspecting and assessing vehicle damage requiring repair
- Opportunity to develop skills in more advanced body shop repairs to restore vehicles to safe condition in accordance with OEM standards
Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge of prepping vehicles for paint work
- Ability to learn body shop processes, vehicle construction, equipment, and materials
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members, including body shop manager, service technicians, parts personnel, painters, body technicians, and managers
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Required Abilities
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills and processes
- Strong attention to detail with an “eye for quality” to ensure all repairs are completed safely
Position Details
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Reports To: Body Shop Manager
- Compensation: Hourly full-time with quarterly bonus if Body Shop Department is profitable
