Over the years the federal government thru the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued numerous cautionary warnings concerning the transporting of school age children in non-conforming 15 passenger vans. Some years ago the federal government made it illegal for dealers to sell non-conforming 15 passenger vans to schools for the transportation of school children. Most insurance companies have taken the position that they will not insure non-conforming vans if they are being used to transport school age children. Breaking NewsPresident Bush signed the highway reauthorization bill and the language in this bill prohibits a school or school system from purchasing or leasing non-conforming vans for purposes of transporting students.
